At 3:00pm on July 25th you would never know that 140 games of American Flag Rugby had been played. The lush green fields were now empty, waiting for the next event to take place.
Morris Rugby made history today. In its 10th year, the Morris Rugby’s Youth American Flag Rugby Festival brought 95 teams, 832 players and over 1500 spectators.
The days highlights included many games in four divisions,( owl, falcon, hawk, and eagle), great fun, skill and sportsmanship. A tackle exhibition game, an autograph session with Phaidra Knight US Eagle 7’s and an attempt at the Guinness World Record for the largest mini/tag rugby tournament.
Many thanks to our sponsors, Rugby Imports, Pella Windows and Safe Kids Northern NJ. The town of Chester for field use, the first aid and fire department and the many members of Morris Rugby who made the festival happen. Without our players and rugby families of Northern NJ and PA, rugby would not be on the move. To our young ruggers, we look forward to the 11th annual festival in 2010. Enjoy the rest of the summer and have a successful school year.
